  • Sara Negash

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2023 RI-SURF student

Sara is a Kinesiology major at URI and generated tools to assess in vitro translation of F. tularensis ribosomes.

  • Adja-Seyba Cissokho

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2023 RI-SURF student

Adja is a Biological Sciences major at URI.

  • Oli Horyn

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2021 and 2022 RI-SURF student

Oli is in her 4th year of the PharmD program at URI. She spent two years in the Ramsey laboratory, including two summers as an RI-INBRE SURF student, focusing on antibiotics and mechanisms of their action against pathogenic bacteria. She continues to stay in touch with Ramsey lab research!

  • Aisling Macaraeg

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2022 RI-SURF student

Aisling graduated with her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology in the spring of 2023. Her work focused on the genetic requirements of the survival of Francisella tularensis in freshwater. She is now conducting post-baccalaureate studies at the NIH.

  • Daniel Floyd

    Undergraduate Researcher

Dan graduated with his B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2022. His work in the Ramsey lab focused on genetic tools in F. tularensis and S. aureus. He is now a Research Assistant at Mass General Hospital.

  • John Church

    Undergraduate Researcher

John graduated from the BSPS program at URI in 2021. While in the Ramsey lab, John used antibiotics to study differences between ribosomes in F. tularensis. Outside of lab, John enjoys cooking, playing with his dogs, and spending time with friends. He is currently attending medical school at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

  • Dan Ruggiero

    Undergraduate Researcher

    Research Assistant

Dan graduated with his B.S. in Biological Sciences in 2020. As an undergraduate research and then as a research assistant, Dan’s work focused on the regulation of ribosomal protein gene expression. In his spare time, Dan loves to play golf, cook, and re-watch Marvel movies. Dan is currently working towards his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.).

  • Tala Allababidi

    Undergraduate Researcher

Tala graduated with her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2020. Her work focused on how ribosome composition influences antibiotic susceptibility in F. tularensis. She is currently attending medical school at Drexel University.

  • Marisa Cogswell

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2021 & 2022 RI-SURF student

  • Joe Paquette

    Undergraduate Researcher

Joe graduated with his B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2020. In the Ramsey lab, Joe focused on the function of the PriM protein in F. tularensis. He is now a graduate student at UMass Medical School.

  • Maria Santiago

    Undergraduate Researcher

    2018 MARC U*STAR - RI-SURF student

During her summer at URI, Maria generated tools to identify factors that could affect the expression of rpsU1 in F. tularensis and performed preliminary screens.
She is currently pursuing her PhD in Biochemistry at Florida International University with Dr. Unwalla from the Department of Immunology and Nano-medicine. The main goal of her project is to develop a therapeutic approach to reverse lung function decline in HIV patients and cigarette smokers by using microRNAomics.
